Cake and Black Friday SALE!

I have a terrible sweet tooth.  I believe Dr. Pepper is the sweet, sweet nectar of heaven and anything chocolate absolutely qualifies as dinner.  (This has proven to be a problem in my weight loss efforts, I'm sad to say!)  Normally, I'm not a big cake/cupcake gal, but lately, I've been wanting birthday cake for some reason.  I have no idea why???   I can only assume that's what inspired this card...

I used Just Because Cards for all the cuts on this card.  The card base, envelope and scalloped rectangle were all cut at 5.50".  The paper is from a stack by Momenta that I got at Big Lots.  I am not sure I'm in love with this paper pack, so I keep using it to try and convince myself.

I cut the cake at 4.25", then inked all the edges in brown chalk ink.  After assembling all the layers, I added some details with my white gel pen.  I haven't used it in a while and I think it was feeling neglected.

Check out that action shot!!!  I adhered the cake using an Action Wobble.  (I get really proud of my photography skills when I can actually catch the wobbler in motion.  It only took 42 tries  And I'm only exaggerating a little, I swear.)

If you haven't tried Action Wobbles yet, you're missing out!  I will be having a sale over the holidays on these little babies, so keep reading for the details.

Here's a pic of the envelope, also cut from Just Because Cards.  The stamp is from Verve.

Now...  How about a sale???

All products are 20% off through Sunday!  I have had multiple problems with my store on the site, so please visit my Etsy shop HERE to view Wobbles, twine, cards and more!

Also, with every order over $15.00, you will receive 20 yards of free twine.  When you check out, please use coupon code thanks to receive your discount.

Have a fabulous day!

Sunflower Birthday Card

Happy Spring!  Yesterday was the "official" first day of Spring and we've had nothing but rain!  I love rain, but a lot of folks are wishing for more springlike weather.  Today I want to share a fun and very simple birthday card with you...

Monday....already?

Is it Monday already?  Where did the weekend go?  Mine went by way too fast.  My hubby and I were fighting off a cold all weekend, so it made for a pretty dull time.  I still feel stuffy and achy and am ready for bed and it's only 12:35 in the afternoon!  Don't you love cold and allergy season?  Ick!

Bee Happy!

This week's challenge at Fantabulous Cricut was all about books.  I decided to play along and made a corner bookmark.  I have admired these from afar on many blogs but never made my own.  It was super easy and I think I will certainly be making more.  I just googled "corner bookmark" and found lots of tutorials and directions.

The patterned paper is by The Paper Studio.  I cut the base in white and then added a black mat for the patterned paper.

I cut a 1" strip of yellow and punched with a Martha Stewart border punch, then added a strip of ribbon.

The bee comes from Just Because Cards.  I added stitching with a black gen pen so the wings wouldn't look so plain.

I really enjoyed making this.  I am thinking I need all kinds of creatures on bookmarks.  Butterflies...ladybugs...owls...birdies....  I'm sure you'll be seeing more of these from me!  Thanks for stopping by today!

Blessings,
Cheryl

Tall Card

Today, I’d like to share a thank you card I made.  Lately, I’ve been in this mode of making tall cards to fit the #10 envelope.  In case you’re interested in making some, they are 4” x 9” in size.  I made this for a lady at church a couple of weeks ago.

I cut the base from brown Kraft paper.  The patterned paper is from K&Company.

The stamp came from the dollar bin at Michael’s.  The tulips were cut from Just Because Cards.

The lacy border is a Martha Stewart border punch.  I also added a strip of the polka dot paper to add some interest to the inside.

Thanks for looking today!

Fun Cards

Good Morning!  Today, I thought I'd share a couple of cards made using the Just Because Cards cartridge.  They are sorta silly and fun!  I have been wanting to cut this cute little wagon for a while now.  I have no idea who to give it to, but I'll save it for just the right person!

These pictures, like yesterdays, were taken in the breakroom at work because I thought I was going to sell them that day and needed pics fast!  I am not sure where this patterned paper is from; I used scraps from my stash.
I used pop dots behind the wagon to make it stand out a little.  I added accents to the letters using my Sakura gel pen.  This makes me want a little red Radio Flyer wagon....

I've used this cut before from this cartridge, but decided to do it again with different papers.  The papers are all from KI Memories.  I inked all the edges with chocolate ink by Martha Stewart.

It's hard to see, but I added accent papers to the inside to give it some personality as well.  I added a button with some twine and voila!  Some of the sentiments are a bit cheesy, but I really like Just Because Cards.  If you don't own this cart, I would recommend it!

Cheryl

Miscellaneous Cards

Happy Tuesday!  Today is supposed to be my cartridge of the month exploration day, however, since I was so busy with my preparations for my craft booth last week, I haven't done that this month.  I will start back in August.  Instead, I thought I'd share a couple of miscellaneous cards with you that I've made over the last few weeks.  I took these pictures in the break room at work, so please ignore the glare and the background!

I made this same card in different colors a few weeks ago.  The tulips are from Create A Critter.  I really like these tulips, so I decided to make another one in different colors.  I think I like the original better, but I do like the this polka dot paper.

Here's a close up of the flowers.  I only did one layer of dimension on the tulips because I was going to mail this card.

For this card, I used Just Because Cards for the flower and I cannot remember the rest!  I love those tall sunflower cut.  I've never used it before, but I will certainly be using it again.

I inked the edges and added some twine on the front.  You can see (just barely) that I added a sunflower to the inside corner as well.  I don't know why, but I never used to embellish the inside of my cards.  Then I realized how much better they look when you do!

One more thing - I will be participating in the Old School Cartridges Blog Hop on August 5-6, hosted by Kassidy over at http://inkingitupcrazy.blogspot.com/.  We will be going "Old School" and using cartridges that are 2 years old or older.  We gotta show some love to those old, neglected cartridges, right?  There are some great ladies participating in this hop, so be sure to check it out.  Of course, I'll have blog candy as well and we all like that, don't we?

Have a great day!

Poll!

Yippeeeeeeeeeeee...it's Friday!  Has it been a really long week for anyone else?  I am so ready to leave work that it's pathetic.  I think I've been a pretty worthless employee for the last few minutes (moving at a snail's pace), so I thought I'd take a break!

I've received several emails over the last few weeks from new Cricut users.  One of the questions I've been asked is "I'm just starting out, what are some cartridges you would suggest?"  Wow - there are so many great ones, that's tough!  But, here are my top 5 (in no particular order) along with a creation from each:

1. Paisley - I can remember the week I bought my Cricut, this cart had just come out.  I saw the box and LOVED it instantly.  It's very versatile and has great cuts.  Only one word of caution - it can have lots of layers!

2.  Simply Charmed - When this cart first came out, I wasn't sold on it.  I don't like everything to have smiley faces!  But...I found it on sale really cheap and I am so glad I bought it.  I use it like crazy since I've gotten my Gypsy and can hide the faces, if needed.

3. Just Because Cards - I know alot of folks did scrapbooking and then got into cards.  I have always just been a cardmaking kind of gal!  I love the images and word art on this cartridge.

4. Birthday Bash - This is a newer one for me and I'm really loving the cuts!  There are a lot of really cute card bases to choose from that don't have to be used for birthdays.

5. Live Simply (Lite Cartridge) - This has super cute cuts on it!  I have a bunch more projects I've made with it, but I'm working the tutorials now, so hopefully you'll see them soon!

What's really funny is as soon as I finished uploading all these pics, I started changing my mind about my top 5!!  It's so hard to choose.  And I haven't bought new carts in a while, so there are TONS of new ones I want.  Gotta start a list...

So....now that I've shared, I've love to hear from you?  What are your favorite carts?  What would you recommend to a new Cricut crafter?  Leave me a comment and let me know.  I will choose a couple randomly to receive some cards from me!

Have a great afternoon!

Blessings,
Cheryl

Love you a Latte!

Most of the time, I’m not much for puns, but I really ended up liking this card.  I made it for my mother-in-law for mother’s day using Just Because Cards.  I have never used this cut before, so I sorta experimented with it.  The paper is from KI Memories.

latte 2

I used the Candy Cane Stripe Cuttlebug folder to emboss the coffee pot.

latte 3

I added stitching to the letters with my white signo gel pen.  The circle was embossed using the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder.

latte 5

latte 6

I added a pink mat with some of the patterned paper to the inside of the card.

latte 4

I used an envelope from my stash that matched the color scheme and cut out a the little coffee pot icon to use for a seal.

latte 7

I wasn’t sure I was in love with the paper or the cuts, but once I put them together, I really liked it!

I made several cards this weekend, so I’ll be sharing the rest this week.

Blessings,
Cheryl

It’s time for Flaunt it Friday!

It’s been a couple of weeks, but it’s time for another project for Flaunt it Fridays.  I am very honored to be on their design team and this week, we were to use the sheep cut from Country Life.  Since I don’t have that cart, I used the sheep from Just Because Cards.  I really like how he turned out…all purple polka dotted!  Wouldn’t it be nice to have lovely polka dot sheep?  Ok, I wouldn’t really want a sheep, but I think everything’s better in bright colors with polka dots!  Back on topic – I used paper by My Mind’s Eye, added twine and a button and Voila!

The paper is so beautiful and sparkly and glittery, I tried to take some close up photos so you could see it better.  Ooh….sparkly things make me so happy.

Just Cards!

I’m getting caught up on moving photos from my camera to my computer and I have a lot to share with you!  I made about 20 thank you cards a few weeks ago for some wonderful helpers at my church and I still haven’t shared many with you.  Here are a few….

I made this one using Live Simply.  Can I say this cartridge is way cute!!!! You should definitely check it out!  You can’t tell a lot from the picture but the paper is sparkly and glittery!

I made this next card using a phrase from Just Because Cards, but I didn’t like the font, so I welded letters with my Gypsy.  You can’t see the lettering very well in the pic; I’m not sure why.  In person, it looks much brighter and I think it turned out kinda cute.  Not my favorite, though!
