Simple Card

Happy Thursday to you all!  I have another card to share with you today.  I made this about a month ago as I still haven't had time to sit at my craft desk and create.

The colors didn't translate well in this photograph.  It looks really orange, when in real life, it's more of a lovely coral-peachy shade.  The base card and banner are from Cricut Artiste.

The flower is from Forever Young and I layered it using foam dots to make it stand out more.

I inked all the edges with chestnut ink and voila!  Simple and easy.  My favorite kind of card!

Have a great day!

Blessings,
Cheryl

Update...and a card!

Hi Everyone!  What a crazy week in Oklahoma!  As you know from my last post, my town was hit by this devastating tornado, so most of us are displaced and scattered right now.

We were able to get into our neighborhood to grab some clothes and things from our home, and I was able to take three pictures before my camera battery died.

This is the mess beside our house, after we picked up a few large pieces.

Here's another shot of the front of our yard.

And this is the mess on my front door and my house.  The entire house is covered with a mixture of mud-trash-insulation gunk.  ICKY!

On a prettier note, I snapped this coming out of our hotel last night...

Aren't these flowers beautiful?  They have several pots of them at the entrance of the hotel we're staying in while we can't stay in our house.

On a crafty note, I thought I'd share a card with you all.

This card is kinda crazy.  I have had this paper forever and finally decided to use it.  I have a co-worker that loves bright colors, so I made this for her.  The paper is by K&Company.

The flower and leaves are from Cricut Artiste.  I outlined them with my white gel pen, then added a sparkly brad.  The orange scalloped border is from Elegant Edges.

The banner shape is from Cricut Artiste.  I stamped it using brown ink and stamp from Stampendous.

I don't have the measurements as they're on a paper in my unoccupied house!

I hope you all have a great weekend.

Blessings,
Cheryl

Fun Cupcake Card!

Did anyone else feel like this when you woke up this morning?  Don't get me wrong...  It's not Mondays that I dislike - it's Monday mornings!  I believe an alarm is the harshest way of waking up.  There's something so wrong about having to wake up to a loud, blaring horn while it's still dark outside.  Alas, I must do it every day.  Enough whining...

I have a fun cuppy-cake card to share with you all today....

I love this card, mainly because of the paper.  I bought this paper a long time ago, but have had a hard time using it on certain projects.  I think it worked perfectly on this one!

For the base, I welded two shadows together using my Gypsy.  I inked all the edges with black ink.

I cut several of each layer, then added them with foam tape to make it dimensional.  This sometimes creates a challenge in finding an envelope to fit, but it's worth it to make it look fancy!

I cut the tiny banners with my Cricut, stamped them, then added a brad and some twine.  All done!

Card Recipe:
Cupcake - Straight From the Nest, cut at 4.75"
Banners - Cricut Artiste, cut at .50"
Envelope (not pictured) - Just Because Cards, cut at 5.5"
Paper - "It's the Little Things" by Fancy Pants

I'm so happy to be back crafting and posting.  I've missed you all over the busy few months.  Have a fab Monday!

Blessings,
Cheryl

Cricut Artiste Card

Howdy everyone!  I hope you're all doing well on this wonderful day!  I'm so happy it's the weekend.  I have been counting down all week....

I had this card ready last week, but never got to post it because I spent a few nights this week at a conference and didn't get home until really late, so I'm just getting around to it.

I made this super simple card using Cricut Artiste.  I am so fond of that cartridge; I would highly recommend it.  It has several pocket cards on there, so I wanted to try one of them out.

I had been wanting to use this floral paper for a while now, but could never find the perfect place, so I thought why not?

Here's a close-up shot of the top.  As you can see, I added some brown pearls to jazz it up a bit.

To finish it off, I added a bow to the bottom half of the pocket.

Card Recipe:

Card & Pocket - Cricut Artiste, cut at 5.5", Recollections cardstock
Brown mat - cut at 3.75" x 4.25"
Floral mat - cut at 3.50" x 4.00"
Stamp - Stampendous
Ribbon - The Paper Studio

Have a great day!!

Blessings,
Cheryl

Monday, Monday....

Well, it's Monday again...already.  I don't know about you, but it seems like Friday takes forever to get here, then Monday comes way too fast!  I've been at work now for 34 minutes and it's already wild and crazy here.  As I mentioned previously, one of my co-workers passed away a few weeks ago.  We were already short-handed in my office, so for the last few weeks, it's been two of us doing the work of four.  This morning, we heard that the other lady in my office fell off her horse and broke her elbow (OUCH!!) and has a hurt hip so she won't be in today and possibly all week.  What a Monday morning!!!  I'm gearing up for a wild day, so I thought I'd say hello to you all before buzzing off to work...

I saw the layout for this card on Pinterest, so I thought I'd try it.  I am very pleased with the result.  The card base is 5.5" x 5.5".  The paper is Prima Doodle Deux.  I love this whimsical paper.  You can get it on Amazon here:

I cut the ovals from Plantin Schoolbook @ 1.25" and 1.5".  The stamp is by Stampendous.  I inked all the edges with blank ink.

The flowers are from Cricut Artiste and were cut at 1.25".  I used a punch for the blue circle centers.  I added a black brad to the center of each flower.

I had a fiasco with my lights that I use for photography.  I sorta broke both of them.... OOPS!  Until I buy new lights, please bear with my poor photographs.  Contrary to the bad lighting, the card is bright and cheery and fun!

I hope you all have a wonderful Monday!

Blessings,
Cheryl

Smile!

I'm so glad it's Thursday...I could jump up and down!  That means it's almost Friday and this week is almost over!  It's been a really busy week at work and home.  I have a super busy weekend, but at least I'll get to sleep later than 6:00 am for a few days!

Today I have a fun card to share with you guys.  Don't you love that paper?  It's Echo Park.  I love the colors and the retro-ish pattern!

The card base and matching envelope (not pictured) are from Cricut Artiste and cut at 4.75".  I inked the edges of everything with brown ink.

I cut several stars and layered them on foam dots.  They are from Cricut Artiste as well and cut at .75", 1" and 1.25".  The banner containing the sentiment is from Artiste and cut at .75".

This card was soooo simple to make.  The patterned paper is so busy I figured I didn't need a lot of "fluff".

That's all I have for today.  Have a great Thursday!

Blessings,
Cheryl

Artiste Band Card

Happy Monday to you all!  I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  My weekend was very nice, but way too short!  I worked on some craft projects at church with some friends.  We had a great time crafting, chatting and sharing secrets and stories.

I came to work this morning to find out that one of my good friends and co-workers passed away in her sleep on Sunday.  It was quite a shock as she was only 51 years old and in relatively good health.  I will truly miss her and my heart aches for her family.  As I'm sitting here, still somewhat in shock as it doesn't seem real, my mind continues to think of how we aren't promised tomorrow and we must live every day to the fullest.  The last few months have been a little rough for me.  More than anything, I've been dealing with some of my own personal issues and with where I am in my life and where I want to be spiritually, financially, in my marriage, my job and my ministry.  I feel like I've allowed a lot of time to be wasted in my life due to fears or insecurities based on things that happened in my past and worries about failure.  I had just talked to my husband last week about taking risks and really trying to do what we love - in work and play!  This is quite a wake up call and makes me even more determined to dive in and ignore what's been holding me back.  I don't want to look back on my life and have regrets.  I don't at all want to be a downer on a Monday morning, but I certainly want to let this remind me to be thankful for what I do have and to go after what I want!

Now....on to the card!

I made this card using one of my newest favorite cartridges, Cricut Artiste.  I have used this cut several times and love it!  It's really quick and simple, but makes a really cute card.  The paper is from K& Company.  I cut the base and band at 4.75".

Here's a shot of the card and band separate.  I cut an oval to line the inside, but didn't take a picture of that.  The stamp is from the dollar bin at Michael's.

The flower is from Flower Shoppe and was cut at 1.25" & 2".  I used gray card stock from The Paper Studio.  Before I assembled the flower, I colored them using my Sakura Stardust Pen in clear.  These pens are fab-u-lous!  It's basically a clear glitter pen.  The nice things is that unlike glitter or glitter glue, there's virtually no drying time and no mess.  After I colored it with glitter, I added Glossy Accents on the top.  I then put the flowers together with a brad and added it to the band.  The picture doesn't do it justice.  The flower is super glittery and sparkly and beautiful!

If you're interested in a sparkly pen, you can get it on Amazon here:

Have a wonderful day!

Cricut Artiste Project....Finally!

Hi all my long lost friends!  I am finally back in the land of blogging and crafting.  We got our Internet and TV back on Saturday, but I have been so busy all week that I have had no time to catch up on posting and sharing with you all.

As I mentioned before, I finally got the Cricut Artiste cartridge and I've been using it like crazy.  Here's a quick card I made with it...

I am soooooo loving this cut!  Instead of an envelope, it has a wrap.  I am posting from work on my break, so I don't have the sizes with me.  If you'd like to know what sizes I used for the cuts, please email me or post a comment and I'll let you know.

Here's what it looks like when you remove the wrap.  I cut the flower and the pennant from Artiste as well.  The paper is from the Give A Hoot stack by The Paper Studio.

I layered three flowers on a foam dot then added a pearl to the center.  This card was very simple but turned out looking quite interesting, I think.  I am very pleased with it and will certainly make more.  If you have the Artiste cartridge, have you tried any of the cards with wraps?  If so, I'd love to see a pic!

That's all for today, guys!  I have many more projects ready to share so I will be back very soon....I promise!

Blessings,
Cheryl

Cricut Artiste is the bomb!

I got a new cartridge!!!
I got a new cartridge!!!
I got a new cartridge!!!

I am super excited, if you can't tell from the song I was singing above! I got the Cricut Artiste cartridge!  I have stepped over the cliff and fallen in love.  It is fabulous!  As I mentioned in a previous post, I was hesitant only because I am on a budget and it's a bit pricey but I must say, it's worth it.  Of course, as soon as I received it, I had to try it out.  I made these fun pumpkin favors for our November ladies meeting at church.  The picture above is the table decor with a couple of the treat bags.

I used the 3D object on page 32 of the Artiste handbook to make the favors.

They were so quick and simple.  I cut them at 4.00".  I hand cut the stems from some wood grain paper I had in my stash.

The leaves are from Create A Critter and cut at .50".  I embossed the pumpkins using various folders in my Cuttlebug.  The paper is Colorbok.

I put a cute little mint in each pumpkin bag.  This cut is so simple and versatile.  I am sure I will make more very soon!  I would highly recommend this cartridge to everyone.  I can't wait to make more goodies with it!

Blessings,
Cheryl
