New Trimmer!

I posted a few days back asking for input on trimmers.  I am finally the proud new owner of this fancy baby:
I waffled back and forth between the guillotine style or the rotary blade.  I decided to try something new (because I love change!) and I am pretty happy with it.  I haven't done a ton of crafting over the last few weeks, but I purposely cut a variety of weights and types of paper the day I got it and it was pretty darn nice!

I purchased this from Amazon for $26.44.  You can get one here, if you're interested:

Since I'm a member of Amazon Prime, I got free 2 Day shipping, so I thought that was a decent deal.  I looked at some that were cheaper, but I'm a firm believer in "You get what you pay for"!  If you're not a member of Amazon Prime, you should be.  It's awesome!  You get FREE 2-Day shipping on any Prime items, Prime Instant Videos (Think Netflix, only, in my opinion, better) and now they've added Amazon Prime Music as a part of your subscription. You can try it FREE for 30 days to see if you like it.  You can read all about it here:

We've been members of Amazon Prime for almost 4 years now and it just keeps getting better.  My hubby loves to read and it really saves us money on shipping since he buys tons of books.  He says he just can't switch to reading on a phone or tablet - He likes a good, old-fashioned book in his hands.  And I like getting stuff in 2 days because I'm impatient!

Trimmer Help!

A few weeks ago, I was in the middle of making several cards and had a huge mess on my desk.  I dropped my trimmer in the floor beside my desk because it was taking up too much room and totally forgot about it.  I'm sure you can imagine what happened next.  I got up to take a potty break and SNAP!  I stepped right on the arm that swings out to measure the paper.  Here's what I was left with...

I broke the poor thing's arm!  {sad face}

I can cut anything out to 5.25" and that's it.  So now I'm on a quest for a new trimmer.  This is a big decision for me.  I am pretty picky about trimmers.  I have had several that have been mediocre and I would like to have one I love - but what to choose?

I need your help!  What trimmer do you use?  Do you love it?

Here are the few I've been looking at on Amazon: (These are affiliate links)

I have never owned a swing-arm or guillotine style trimmer and I never really wanted one until I used this super old one at work.  I was cutting coupons at lunch and a co-worker told me we had one stashed in the back.  I love it!  The thing is that it's great for coupons, but will I love it for crafting????  I just don't know.

Here's the other one I was looking at.  I really like rotary style trimmers and that's what I've used for a while now.  This one folds out to cut 12" paper, but then folds flat for storage.  It's a bit higher, but I'm willing to pay it if it works well.

I really like the measuring grid on this one, but I don't like this blade style.  I find that this type of blade tends to rip the paper instead of cut.  My friend has this kind and really likes it, but my OCD kicks in if I even see a little "fringe" on the paper due to the blade.

Sooooo.... Can you help me decide?  I would like to order one in the next day or two and would love your input.

Smiles,
Cheryl

I LOVE my new trimmer!!!

I had to buy a new trimmer yesterday. I had a pink CutterBee rotary trimmer. One day, I had propped it up against the wall on the floor by my desk and it apparently slid over into the floor. I didn't realize this and stepped right on it! I have been trying use it, even though it's half-broken. When I noticed it wasn't cutting straight, I decided I had to bite the bullet and buy a new one. Hobby Lobby has 40% off them this week, so I headed over there. I noticed a new trimmer in their store by Marvy Uchida. I love variety and am always wanting to try new things, so I got it. Here's what it looks like in the package:

I wasn't sure about buying this brand, because although I've heard of it, I haven't seen alot from Marvy except punches and pens. Let me say....I am loving it. I comes with a handheld trimmer that you can attach the blade to for freestyle cutting. I also love how clear and easy to read the ruler is. It has a rotary blade, which I'm also quite fond of. Here are few more pics....

You can also purchase different blades. Here's a pic of the insert in the package showing what's available.

I would highly recommend this trimmer. It cuts so easily and smooth....like butta!!!! =) Check it out...you might like it!
