Rudolph Lip Balm Holder

It's Christmas Time!  I love it.  I love the lights and the parties and even the crowded stores.  I completely enjoy this time of year.

One of my greatest joys is giving gifts that bring a smile to some one's face.  I don't have a ton of extra cash (paying off debt...ugh!) so I try to make the small gifts I can afford more fun.  We're doing Secret Santa at work and right now I'm compiling a bunch of small goodies to leave for her over the next few weeks.

Here's the first one...

I downloaded the reindeer file from the Silhouette Store.

I used a scalloped frame in the background.  I used the offset feature to make an outline, then added text.  The font is Grandma's Garden and you can get it at DaFont.

It wasn't designed to hold the lip balm, so I had to alter the shape of his nose to fit it.  I have seen these all over Pinterest and I think they're adorable!  I looked at several printables and used them as a starting point for sizing the hole for the nose.  This particular lip balm isn't the name brand, it's Walgreen's brand and it's a little more oval shaped than the original.

I really hope the recipient likes this!  I am going to leave it for her on Monday, so we'll see.  I have made a few other projects, but didn't have time to photograph them until today.  I'll share those later in the week.

Hugs,
Cheryl

It's Christmas!

It's Christmas!  I want to wish you all a happy, peaceful and wonderful Christmas!

I'm headed out to church this morning for our Christmas service, then it's to my parent's house for lunch.  I'm a little sad that the Christmas season is almost over.  I really love Christmas movies, lights shopping, food - all of it!  This year I've had alot going on - as I'm sure you can tell by my lack of posts here - but I've enjoyed the parties and festivities, that's for sure.  I have one Christmas tradition left that will happen tonight.  Any guesses based on the picture below?

That's right, tonight, my hubby and I will be watching "A Charlie Brown Christmas".  We have watched it every Christmas since we got married and it's our one and only tradition.  Since he works a different schedule than me, sometimes we don't get to have holiday celebrations together, but we always make time for this.

I will quit rambling for now.  As of Friday, I am officially on Christmas break from work until January 3rd.  I know I've neglected the blog and my plan is to get back on track this week.  I have alot of cleaning and things to do around the house, and once that's done, I'll be back to crafting regularly.  I have lots of ideas to share with you all, so I promise to be back soon!

Merry Christmas!

MPS Christmas Card Challenge

Finally!  I can post a card!  This has been a crazy day with blogger.  I decided to play along with a few challenges for World Card Making Day and I finishing them up now.  Robyn @ My Pink Stamper has a challenge to make a Christmas card.  Can you believe we're already in October?  Christmas is just around the corner.  I am determined to get my cards all done by November, so this was a perfect time to start on them.

I decided to make a card using non-traditional Christmas colors.  I sold my big Christmas tree in the garage sale last year with the intention of buying a new one when we move into a different house.  Now, all I have is a smaller pink tree my dad bought me a few years ago, so that will be our tree this year.  (LOVE IT!!!!)  So, I decided to do a pink tree on my card.  Well, that and because pink is the best, obviously.  The tree is from Holiday Cakes.

The scallop square is from Elegant Edges (my new FAVE cart - so glad I broke down and bought it).  The stamp is from Hobby Lobby and although it doesn't look like it in the pic, it's actually stamped in lime green to match the paper.  I added some bling just to make it sparkle.

This card was super simple, but I love the colors.  I am going to try to make 1-2 cards per week so I'm ready when Christmas comes. Have you started on your holiday cards yet?

Cricut Cardz Challenge #52

The challenge this week at Cricut Cardz Challenge is to make a card using ONLY words from your Cricut - No pictures or other shapes. That's pretty hard when you have a {mild} addiction to your Cricut like I do. I say mild because it could always be worse, right? Anyway, I decided to use my Gypsy and make my words instead of using a sentiment on one of my carts. I used Plantin Schoolbook and Gypsy font for the lettering. It's quite simple but for some reason I really like it.

I used kraft for the background (that you can barely see). Then used my white Gelly Roll pen to do faux stitching, added a green button over the i, then voila! I was done.

Throwback Thursday Christmas Tag

Emma's Throwback Thursday challenge this week was to create a Christmas item of your choice using Celebrations. That was a bit tough....but here's what I came up with.

My Pink Stamper Challenge - Something Cute!

This is for another MPS Challenge. Robyn has challenges going on all week over at My Pink Stamper and this challenge is to make something cute! I saw these cute little triangle boxes/ornaments made with punch art a while back and figured I could probably recreate it with the cricut. I used Tags, Bags, Boxes and More for the box and Storybook for the rest of the cuts.
