My Craft Spot Challenge

I made a card for another challenge - Two in one week!  I can't believe it.  Over at My Craft Spot, the challenge this week is to use a bird in your project, so here's what I came up with:

My Pink Stamper Birthday Challenge

It’s Robyn’s birthday over at My Pink Stamper and she’s hosting a challenge to create something with a birthday theme.  I chose to make a shaped card using Simply Charmed.  I really like this cart and don’t use it nearly enough.

I wanted to pass along a tip to you all with this project.  I LOVE making shaped cards with my Gypsy, however, you always end up a “flat” spot where the card folds when you weld two shapes together.  When I do this, I always cut an extra shape and glue it on as the background to cover up that spot.  Below is a pic of my mat and how I cut these.  I’ve circled the extra cut I made to hide my folding on the top of the card.

(Isn’t that mat icky and well loved? ha ha)  Anyway, I think it makes your shaped cards look so much better.  You can see in my pics below that it doesn’t cut off part of the image if you assemble the card onto this piece, then glue to your shaped card.

Here are a few more pics of the card I made for the challenge.  Enjoy!

FIF Challenge #8

Happy Friday Everyone!  It’s time again for a Flaunt it Friday challenge.  This week, we were asked to make the "bear in a can” from Give a Hoot.  Let me tell you….this was challenging for me!  I kept looking at this little guy and thinking “What in the world can I make with a bear in a garbage can??”  I love making cards but was trying to think outside the box so I made a little treat bag.  The bear cut is from Give a Hoot, the bag I created with my Gypsy and the sentiment was printed from my computer.  The ribbon is by American Crafts.  I got it at Michael’s on clearance after Christmas.  Ooh…I love clearance shopping!  Anyway, Here’s my project.  Don’t forget to check out the rest of the design team’s submissions over at Flaunt it Fridays.  If you can, we’d love for you to play along as well!

Flaunt it Friday’s Challenge #7

Happy Friday everyone!  I hope your week has been fabulous…but thank goodness it’s the weekend.  Since Monday is a holiday, I am off work so that makes the weekend so much better!  Today’s challenge over at Flaunt it Fridays is to use the skull from Mini Monsters.  I am a proud member of the design team, so here’s my project for this week.  I don’t own that cart (but want to!), so I used the skull from Indie Art instead.

Flaunt it Friday Challenge #4

There's a new challenge blog that I'm really excited about called Flaunt it Fridays. This is my first time to participate in their challenge and I'm super excited to join in. The challenge was to use the turtle from Create a Critter and make something other than a card. I decided to make a gift bag using the cut from Plantin Schoolbook. My first thought, of course, was a green turtle. Then, I decided on pink....surprise! But, I'm trying to broaden my horizons...ha ha....so I went with purple. I really like the bag in person, but I have to say, it did not photograph well AT ALL! Have you ever made something and taken like a gazillion photos and none of them capture the colors or style properly? Well, that happened with this. I have this neato new photo tent with fancy lights that my dad bought me and it has definitely made my pictures look better. But even with that, there was no getting a good pic of this bag. So, I gave up and said "oh well!". Here it is anyway. In real life, the colors look really good....so just squint your eyes and pretend it's beee-u-ti-ful, ok?Blessings,

Cricut Cardz Challenge #52

The challenge this week at Cricut Cardz Challenge is to make a card using ONLY words from your Cricut - No pictures or other shapes. That's pretty hard when you have a {mild} addiction to your Cricut like I do. I say mild because it could always be worse, right? Anyway, I decided to use my Gypsy and make my words instead of using a sentiment on one of my carts. I used Plantin Schoolbook and Gypsy font for the lettering. It's quite simple but for some reason I really like it.

I used kraft for the background (that you can barely see). Then used my white Gelly Roll pen to do faux stitching, added a green button over the i, then voila! I was done.

Fantabulous Cricut - Challenge #36

This week's challenge at Fantabulous Cricut is to make a get well card. I'm really loving Smiley Cards...so I chose this cute band-aid. I actually used the hide/contour feature on my gypsy and swapped his eyes and mouth with another characters to make him look "sicker"...ha ha. I think it's missing something but everything I added just looked weird. Ever have one of those days???

Oh.....and have you ever thought about how to spell the word Ow-ee? or is it Owie?? Or Owwee?? Who knows? I don't so I guessed. What do you think?

Think Pink!

I wanted to participate in the Cricut Cardz Challenge #47 this week - a card for breast cancer awareness. Of course the pink drew me in but I am also very passionate about being supportive of research and hope for those facing breast cancer. Now....I had major issues photographing this card. I have never claimed to know a thing about photography and now it's proven! So, please disregard the poor quality. The card is such a beautiful vibrant pink in person...I hate that it doesn't show up that way here. Oh well. =) I used the heart w/ribbon from Beyond Birthdays. I welded the shadow with my Gypsy to make a shaped card, then cut the heart and ribbon, added faux stitching and stickers and Voila!

Blessings,
