Stamping Solutions–Week 5

We’re coming to the end of the month, thus I’ll be sharing my last project using Stamping Solutions.  For this week’s project, I used the the butterfly cut, on blackout.

blue butterfly 6

I cut the butterflies at 1 1/4”.  I cut them in a bunch of colors and then settled on a rainbow-ish theme.

blue butterfly 2

I folded each butterfly at the wings to make them stand out.

blue butterfly 4

I used a plain white background for the card because I wanted something super simple.

red butterfly 4

I put a tiny line of glue just in the center of each butterfly so only the middle portion was attached to the card.

red butterfly 2

On the first card, I just attached each butterfly to the card.  For this one, I glued a butterfly down flat in each color and then added another one on top.  I am not sure which one I like better…

To finish them off, I added a stamped sentiment to each.  I do apologize for the bad pics; I took them late at night and didn’t have much light around.

I hope you all are having a fabulous day!  Thanks for looking at my creations.  It’s always the highlight of my day to share them with you all.

Blessings,
Cheryl

Back To School!

Don't you love back to school time?  I do!  I have no children, but I love it for the great sales on office and crafting supplies!  =)  As I've mentioned a time or two, I think office supplies are exciting.  I know, I know.  I'm odd, huh?  Anyway, I made little cards of encouragement for the kids in my class at church and thought I'd share them with you today.  Please bear with the sloppy pictures.  I spent most of last week on my couch, on strong medication, with a heating pad on my ear.  I thought I had a toothache, but when I went to the doctor, they said my ear was full of fluid and most likely infected.  This was the worst ear infection I've ever had.  The pain was quite intense, so I did little to nothing for about 4 days, and then only got up because I had to go work after missing 3 days.  So, when I took these pics, I was feeling terrible and took them super fast before my hubby dropped the cards in the mail for me.

For all the cards, I used Simply Charmed.  I have been waiting for back to school time, just to cut this notebook paper.  I just love his little happy face.

I added some stitching with my white gel pen to help this out.  It still looks a little plain to me.

When cutting the notebook paper, the cricut puts little score lines where the lines should be.  I used a ruler and colored pencils to trace these to make the lines on the paper.

I mailed these to the kids in my class at church to let them know I hoped their first week of school went well and to tell them I was praying for them to have a blessed and happy school year.  I heard they enjoyed them - I know how kids love to get things in the mail!

Cheryl

Oh Happy Day!

I know it's cheesy and silly, but I just love it when someone gives me a blog award!  It makes me all smiley and giddy!  I received an award today from Lisa over at http://prettypaperprettyribbons.blogspot.com/.  You need to check her out - I follow her blog and greatly enjoy her creations!  Now on to the info...

Thanks so much, Lisa!  Now the rules state that I'm supposed to do the following:
1. Answer several questions.
2. Award this 'Butterfly Award' to 10 other bloggers.
3. Contact the 10 bloggers to let them know they have been given this award.
4. Show a link to the person who gave me the 'Butterfly Award'.

So, here are my answers.

Q1) Name your favorite color?  PINK (preferable with sparkles!!)

Q2) Name your favorite song? Ooh...that's a tough one... There are too many to choose from!  Can I list a few?  (It's my blog, so I can do what I want, right?)  I love "Rolling in the Deep" by Adele and am a big fan of anything by Train.

Q3) Name your favorite dessert? Cheesecake

Q4) What wizzes you off at the moment?  The construction on I-35 that I fight every single morning coming to work

Q5) Your favorite pet? Sadly, don't have a pet right now.  I used to have a Jack Russell Terrier named Harley that was horribly ill behaved, but I loved him!

Q6) Black or White?  Black

Q7) Your biggest fear? Failure.  And, of course, bugs.

Q8) Best Feature?  Oh gosh....I'm not good at these kinds of questions.  I'll have to really think on this one and get back to ya.......  =)

Q9) Everyday attitude?  Good, for the most part.  I have my moments.

Q10) What is perfection?  A clean house on a lazy Saturday, sitting at my desk with my paper and Cricut!

Q11) Guilty Pleasure?  Shopping for office supplies.
Q12) When you're upset you?  Clean or cry.  Or both at the same time.

That's all the questions.  Now, I'm supposed to pass this along to 10 blogs.  I follow so many, it's hard to choose, but here goes.

Bug Lover Cards - http://buglvr.blogspot.com/
Crafty Girl Designs - http://craftygrl.blogspot.com/
I'd Rather Be Making Cardst - http://idratherbemakingcards.blogspot.com/

OK, that's only 9, but my Internet Explorer keeps crashing, so I'm gonna end this post before I lose the whole post.

One last thing....I received an email about a month ago saying one of my followers had given me an award on their blog.  I accidentally deleted the email before getting the info.  If this was you, I am so sorry!  I am so very appreciate of people recognizing my blog and want you to know that I didn't purposefully ignore the award.  So, to whomever sent that,  Thank you!!!

Have a blessed day!

Spare Cards?

Do any of you ever make cards and not post them on your blog or never give them away because they are just so-so?  I do!  Way too often, in fact.  Today I thought I'd share a card with you from my "Spare Cards" stack.  I don't wanna throw it away and waste it, but don't really know anyone that would love it either.

A few weeks ago, I did the Old School Cartridge Blog Hop and used Wild Card as my cartridge of choice.  This was a card I originally made for that and never used.  All the cuts are from Wild Card.

I tried to use up some scraps, so all this paper is from my scrap drawer.  I originally thought the frame would be really cute in polka dot paper, but since it cut off alot of the dots, it didn't look great.

Then, there's the bird.  He just makes me sad.  Can't you hear him saying "Where are my wings?".  He just looks odd to me.  He needs a wing.  I gave him an eye with my black Sharpie because prior to that he was really sad.  I should have somehow added a wing.  Oh well....poor, sad bird.  Then, I smeared my dots on the letters and had to try to remove the smears before they dried on there permanently.

Finally, I added the ribbon using glue dots.  When I decided I wanted to change it, it was stuck on so well I couldn't take it off.  I really don't hate this card.  I just don't have a special place in my heart for it either.  That's why it goes in the "Spare Cards" drawer.  Someday, I may have the perfect occasion to use it, who knows?
Have a wonderfully fabulous day!

Blessings,
Cheryl

Birthday Candles!

It sure seems like I've been making alot of birthday cards lately, doesn't it? Alot of folks have birthdays in August and September! I have one more for you today. It's really simple, but I was pleased with the result.

I used Birthday Bash to cut the candles. For each candle, I used a lighter shade for the melted wax portion on the top. I embossed each candle using a different Cuttlebug folder and inked them to help it show up better.

I stamped the sentiment and then added doodling with a black pen. Super simple!! I also added yellowish-gold glitter to the center of the flames to make them sparkle. I made this on my gypsy and I'm sorry to say I didn't write down the size I cut the candles. I want to say they were around 1.5" - 2".
Thanks for stopping by today!

Stamping Solutions - Week 4

Good Morning Everyone!  (or at least everyone in the central time zone of the US... for some of you, it's Goodnight!)  I'm back with another project from this month's cartridge, Stamping Solutions.  I have been trying to challenge myself with this cartridge to use the cuts in a different way, so that's what I did this time.

For the card base, I cut the scallop rectangle using the blackout feature.  I then cut a card fit the center of it and rounded the corners before adhering.  All paper are by Colorbok.

For the flowers, I cut scalloped circles, also using the blackout feature.  I cut 3 sets of circles in different sizes, cutting each one .25" smaller than the one before so they would "nest" inside each other.  I have pictures showing how I made the flowers 3D, however, I left them at home and I'm at work now!  Oops!  I will try to get the instructions up this week, in case you're interested.

I cut some leaves (surprise....using the blackout feature!) and added brads to the center of the flowers.  I made two of these cards and on my other one, I used bling in the center instead of brads.  Not sure which I like better....

To finish it off, I added the stamped sentiment.  I am not loving the pink ink, but it's done now, so what can ya do?  Be sure to check back later in the week for the instructions on how to make the flowers.

Have a blessed and happy day!!

Masculine Cards

As I’ve mentioned before, I have a really hard time making masculine cards.  I wanted to share a couple of really simple ones I made.

masculine thanks 1

masculine thanks 1a

For both cards, I used simple strips of patterned paper matted on solid colors.  I added brads to the white piece on each.

masculine thanks 2a

masculine thanks 2

I used brown Kraft paper for the base of each and put the stamped piece of paper on with foam tape so it stood up just a bit.

I know these are quite plain, but most men that I know prefer the simple patterns and geometric shapes.

If you have pictures or ideas for good masculine cards, I’d like to hear/see them!

Blessings,
Cheryl

Stamping Solutions - Week 3

Today is week 3 of my exploration of Stamping Solutions.  As most of you know, I am the children's pastor at my church.  I try to send cards to all the children in my class for their birthdays, etc.  I make each card with the individual in mind, instead of just making a bunch of the same card.  This is for a little girl in my class whose birthday is this month.

All cuts on this card came from Stamping Solutions.  I used the shadow feature of the scalloped circle for the base.  I welded two of them together with my Gypsy then cut the red layer and the patterned circle for the center.  All the paper is from a stack by Martha Stewart.  Funny thing about the paper - When I had my craft booth a few weeks ago, a lady asked for some specific items with red as the main color.  I made them for her as a special order using the red and the plaid paper (I only had a limited supply of paper with me that day).  She did end up buying the items but was very concerned because this paper wasn't "red enough"????  It looks pretty red to me...  =)

I cut the shadow of the present twice and added it with foam dots for dimension.  I also added some stitching with my white gel pen.  I don't love the stitching around the dots on the present, but I was too lazy to cut it again and redo that part!!!

It's hard to tell from the pic, but I added iridescent glitter glue to the yellow dots on the present so they're all sparkly.  I added the twine on top and voila!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Blessings,
Cheryl
