Product Review - EK Success Cutterpede Trimmer

Here we go - My first product review!  I don't know about you, but there's nothing worse than spending my hard earned money on a product that I end up hating.  I know a lot of the items I use in my crafting have been purchased through recommendations from friends or blogs I follow.  So....I thought I'd start sharing my take on the products I try and love...or hate!  (Just FYI - I am not being paid by EK Success for this review.  It's solely my opinion based on use of the product)

EK Success Cutterpede Trimmer
I am really picky about trimmers.  Over the years, I've bought several different kinds and this is the one I've stuck with.  It's fairly inexpensive and the replacement cutting channel mat and blades are a steal!  I know some folks prefer a straight blade over a rotary blade, but not me.  I find that on my Fiskars or Provo Craft trimmer the blade gets dull really quickly and starts leaving a rough edge on my paper.  This blade lasts a really long time and still cuts cleanly after a ton of use.  Also, you can replace the cutting channel mat (The white strip in the center) as it wears down and it will help keep the cuts smooth.

Here's the lowdown on this product:
  • It's Pink!!!
  • Rotary Blade
  • Replaceable cutting channel mat
  • Compact Design with swing out arm for larger paper
  • Easy to replace blades and mat

As much as I like this trimmer, I am always open to new products if they make my crafting life easier.  What type of trimmer do you use?  Have you tried this one and liked it or hated it?  I'd love to hear from you!

Leave a comment and I'll enter you in a drawing for 50 yards of twine! All comments left through 07/15/12 will be entered in the drawing.  You choose the colors and amounts in any combination, up to 50 yards.  Please be sure to leave your name and email address so I can contact you.

Have a blessed day!

  1. I agree about the Fiskars blade getting dull quickly. Thanks for the review on the EK Success Cutterpede Trimmer! I might have to try that one. Thanks for the chance to win the twine too! :)

  2. I've had my Fiskars trimmer for years and haven't really noticed having to replace the blade that often.

Thanks for the chance to win :)

  3. I like my Fiskars trimmer, it has the wire so I know exactly where it will cut. Take care.

  5. I am excited about product reviews! I have one of theses trimmers but haven't used it much. I too have to replace blades on my other trimmers often! Thought I would give fiskars trimmer a try but maybe I will just use my cutterpede more. Thanks!

  6. I like my Fiskars for the wire and the fact I don't have to open the arm as often because the plate is large enough for most of my cutting. You are right though as the cutting blade dulls quickly if you use thick or glittered papers. This cutter does look interesting though. Would love to win some twine!

  7. I have this product and actually don't like it too much, I find that it wears down quickly and that a lot of my cuts don't come out straight which means I have to constantly recut things, it can be frustrating at times, thanks for the review but I think my next cutter will be by fiskars I have heard a lot of good things about them

  8. I just got a Cutterpede on clearance at Meijer's this weekend and haven't tried it yet. So glad to hear that I may have made a great $11.99 purchase. My husband bought me a very heavy duty trimmer (X-ACTO) at Office Max for Christmas years ago and I love it for it's pricision clean cuts - just can't easily create frames with it like I hope to do with the Cutterpede. Thanks for the twine-tunity!

  9. This is definitely my favorite trimmer, too. I have used mine for about 5 years and just keep replacing the blade and mat. It is great.

  11. I have a fiskars and so far really like it. I haven't had to change the blade often and use it all the time. Thanks for the review, I like to hear others opinions and experiences using scrappy tools!!

  13. What are the best safety razor reviews? I'm often confused by the variety of razor and multiple blades on the market today. How can one really know which is the safest and best for their skin?
