Trick or Treat...Smell My Feet!

I promise I'm almost done with the cheesy Halloween phrases.  They just abound this time of year, don't they?  I hope you all got to watch The Great Pumpkin last night because it's a necessary part of the season.  =)  I have another treat bag to share to wrap up my week of Halloween fun....

EEK!!!

Have I ever mentioned how much I hate bugs?  I hate them with all the fire that's within me.  Especially bugs that jump.  Crickets and grasshoppers are at the top of the list of hated creatures, followed closely by flying things and then the crawlers.

Let's go Batty!

Ok, so I'm aware the title of this post is cheesy, but oh well - I like it!  Since Halloween is just a week away (Where has this year gone?), I thought I'd kick off a week of fun Halloween projects and cards.  I told the kids in my class at church they could come by my house while trick-or-treating next week if they want, so I decided to make up some goodie bags for them and for my niece and nephew.

I used the fit to page feature and cut this on a 12x12 sheet of paper using Life's A .  I love this long triangle box!  It's just fun.  I used some bat paper I got on clearance at Hobby Lobby last year.

I tied the top the box closed with the green ribbon.  The top cuts with two tiny holes so you can tie it shut or even attach a ribbon to make a handle.

I cut the scalloped circles from Elegant Edges.  I used an embossing pen to write the sentiment and then embossed it with white powder.  The little bat is a sticker by Sandylion from the dollar spot at Joann's.  Isn't he cute?  Only as a sticker though, not in real life!  I don't do bats.  Ick.

I am off to work now, so I wish you all a happy and peaceful Monday.  I'll be back soon with more Halloween fun!

Blessings,
Cheryl

Ghost Treat Bag

Don't you love fall weather?  I do!  I completely hate being hot, so summer isn't my thing.  I love fall and winter.  In Oklahoma, sometimes it takes us a while to get chilly fall weather and it finally came this week.  When I woke up this morning, I opened my back door just to step outside and feel the chilly breeze.  Correction - in Oklahoma we almost never have a "breeze".  It was more like a major 40 mph wind gust, but still wonderful and cool.  This weather can only mean one thing...Halloween is just around the corner!!  Since I don't have kids, I don't have to worry with costumes and such, but I still like the holiday.  I bought a ton of candy (yeah, coupons!) so I had to make some bags to put it in.  Here's one of them...

Let's Go Shopping!!

I thought I'd pass this along in case some of you don't get the emails.  CricutMachine.com is having a huge sale right now - There are tons of cartridges for only $19.95.  I have ordered from them several times and have always gotten fast shipping and quality products.  (They're not paying me to say this, by the way!)  You can go here to see the sale items  Now, to decide which one I want....  I'm thinking of Straight From the Nest and/or Winter Frolic.  Would any of you recommend either of those?

Smiley Pumpkin

Do you give cards for Halloween?  I never have before.  It just doesn't seem like one of those card holidays to me.  I found some great Halloween paper that I liked, so I decided I would make some cards and give them away this year...just because.  Since I'm a chicken and don't like scary things (no horror flicks for me), I made mine a cheerful Halloween card....

Simple Plaid Card

Happy Monday morning!  Normally, I am not too chipper on Monday mornings, but today has been a good day so far.  The only downside was waking up and driving to work while the moon was still out and the stars were in the sky.  There's something not right about that....

Balloons!

Hello to you all!  I hope you're having a fabulously grand Tuesday.  I am so far.  It's been a crazy day at work (don't ya love computer, copier, printer and fax machines that crash - all on the same day?) but it's actually been a pretty good day anyway.  I thought I'd take a break and share this quick birthday card I made.

For some reason, this picture looks blurry when I upload it.  On my screen, it looks fine.  That's odd!  Anyway, I used Celebrations to cut the balloons.  The paper is by American Crafts.  I bought the paper on clearance and it's been sitting around for a while.  I decided I needed to use it, so this is what I came up with.  I don't normally use primary colors, but I liked it for a change.

If you look closely you'll see the balloons have patterns on them.  I cut the blackout and the layer in the same color, so you can just barely see the patterns.  I just glued them together and adhered them to the shadow, which I cut in white.

I used a stamp by Hero Arts and hand cut my banner.  I added some white twine to the balloons and ran it behind the foam dots on the back of the banner.

I just added a strip of the patterned paper on the inside because I wanted to keep it simple.  Nothing fancy today - Just a simple bright card!

Floral Birthday Card

Happy Saturday!  I hope you're all having a great day so far.  I wanted to share a card I made a few weeks ago.  While I was trolling those tempting dollar bins at Walmart, I found this paper and loved it.  So, I made several cards with it.

For the base, I used a shape from Elegant Edges. I welded the shadow to form the base, then cut the other layers in smaller sizes. I inked the edges of each piece with Chestnut Brown chalk ink.

I cut the rounded rectangle and shadow from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More and stamped the sentiment on there in the same brown ink.  (As you can see, I made a card that said "Happy Birthday" and one that said "Girlfriends" both using the same layout)  The flower is from Serenade Solutions. I inked the edges and added a button tied with twine. The flower is attached using foam dots.

I lined the inside of the card with the same pink paper I used on the flower.

I wanted to create a matching envelope because I love this paper so much!  I cut the envelope from Plantin Schoolbook and sized it to fit on my Gypsy.  Please ignore the horrible pictures.  I tried a new light and it looked really good on my camera...ha ha.  When I loaded them on my computer, they looked terrible.  Of course, I've already given the cards away now, so I can't re-photograph!

Thanks for looking.  And....thanks for being a follower!  I love sharing with you all hearing from you.

Love is in the air...

Today I want to share a wedding card that I made for my hubby's cousin.  Have I ever mentioned to you how much I love weddings?  I do!  I love the fancy schmancy, expensive stuff and the complete frivolity of all the things we buy for our weddings.  You know like the $400 ice sculpture that you just have to have?  (Been there, done that!)  Looking back, I have no idea why I felt the need to pay $400 for frozen water in the shape of a swan, but I sure did.  I will blame it on the fact that I was 21 years old and so in love that I had to share it with the world.  Of course, if I could have another wedding today, I'm sad to say, I probably would spend more money than I ever did before.   Moving right along to the card...

I made this card to fit a business size (#10) envelope, so it measures 4" x 9".  I really like the look of these tall, thin cards.  The card base is black.  The white, swirly design is from Lyrical Letters.  This cut is normally square but I stretched and re-sized it to fit this card.

The stamp is from the dollar bin at Walmart.  I have been going to town on that dollar bin!  Every time I go to Walmart, I pick up one stamp and one pack of bling.  I'm getting a good collection and only spending a couple of bucks each time.

This flower is from Designer's Calendar.  I was just scrolling through and saw it and thought it would be good to make a layered flower.  The center of the flower is from a pack of "raindrops" that I bought at Big Lots a long time ago.  I use these sparingly because I haven't found them again and I really like them.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Yummy Birthday Card

Happy Tuesday!  I hope you’re all having a great day.  I’ve had a leisurely day off work today.  Not by my choice really, but it has been relaxing.  I noticed my eyes were burning Sunday night before I went to bed.  By Monday morning, I looked like I’d been punched in both eyes.  It was awful!  I thought it was allergies but it just got worse over the course of the day.  I finally broke down and went to the clinic and I apparently have conjunctivitis (a.k.a. pink eye) in both eyes.  ICK!  I have no idea how I got it.
They said I could have picked it from a door handle or a pen or any surface, really. Which makes me not want to touch anything…ewww. Anyway, since it’s extremely contagious, my boss told me I should probably go ahead and stay home today so I don’t touch the copy machine, phone or door handle and pass it to a co-worker. Sadly, I do have to go back to work tomorrow. On to the important stuff…
On Tuesdays, I normally highlight the cartridge of the month. However, I will be taking a break from that for October. I have a big list of projects that need to be done, so I’ll be sharing those with you instead. Here’s a birthday card I made this weekend.
sundae bday front
The card base measures 5” x 6.5”.  A few weeks ago, Michael’s had packs of 50 cards with envelopes for $3.00 each, so I bought one white and one off-white pack.  I don’t usually use the pre-cut cards, but it’s nice to have them on hand with an envelope ready to go.  The scalloped mat is from Elegant Edges.  I inked the edges of everything with charcoal ink.
sundae bday cherry close up
The sundae is from Birthday Bash.  I added glossy accents to the cherry and sprinkles to make them shiny.
sundae bday sentiment side
I stamped the sentiment in clear Versamark ink an embossed it with white embossing powder.
sundae bday inside
This is the inside of the card.  I used the paper from the outside and punched the plaid piece using a Martha Stewart punch.
Thanks for looking today!  Have a great evening!
Blessings,
Cheryl

MPS Christmas Card Challenge

Finally!  I can post a card!  This has been a crazy day with blogger.  I decided to play along with a few challenges for World Card Making Day and I finishing them up now.  Robyn @ My Pink Stamper has a challenge to make a Christmas card.  Can you believe we're already in October?  Christmas is just around the corner.  I am determined to get my cards all done by November, so this was a perfect time to start on them.

I decided to make a card using non-traditional Christmas colors.  I sold my big Christmas tree in the garage sale last year with the intention of buying a new one when we move into a different house.  Now, all I have is a smaller pink tree my dad bought me a few years ago, so that will be our tree this year.  (LOVE IT!!!!)  So, I decided to do a pink tree on my card.  Well, that and because pink is the best, obviously.  The tree is from Holiday Cakes.

The scallop square is from Elegant Edges (my new FAVE cart - so glad I broke down and bought it).  The stamp is from Hobby Lobby and although it doesn't look like it in the pic, it's actually stamped in lime green to match the paper.  I added some bling just to make it sparkle.

This card was super simple, but I love the colors.  I am going to try to make 1-2 cards per week so I'm ready when Christmas comes. Have you started on your holiday cards yet?
Blessings,

Happy World Card Making Day!

Good Morning to you all!  I hope you're having a great Saturday so far.  I wanted to let you all know that I had a few things planned for this lovely World Card Making Day...BUT...Blogger doesn't like me today, apparently!  I had several projects to share with you, but for some reason, I can't right now.  It's super frustrating.  So, I decided to stop messing with it and go make some cards.  There are tons of challenges going on for this day, so I may as well have some fun.  I hope to share something with you later once things work properly on here...  If not, I'll be back to share when I can!

Blessings,
