Cupcake Pocket Card

Cupcakes!

Don't you just love cupcakes?  I do!  I don't eat them much, especially since I'm on a healthier eating plan, but I just love to look at them.  I like everything in miniature and cupcakes are mini cakes so they make me happy and smiley.  Oh, and I have another cupcake card to share with you.

Balloons!

Hello to you all!  I hope you're having a fabulously grand Tuesday.  I am so far.  It's been a crazy day at work (don't ya love computer, copier, printer and fax machines that crash - all on the same day?) but it's actually been a pretty good day anyway.  I thought I'd take a break and share this quick birthday card I made.

For some reason, this picture looks blurry when I upload it.  On my screen, it looks fine.  That's odd!  Anyway, I used Celebrations to cut the balloons.  The paper is by American Crafts.  I bought the paper on clearance and it's been sitting around for a while.  I decided I needed to use it, so this is what I came up with.  I don't normally use primary colors, but I liked it for a change.

If you look closely you'll see the balloons have patterns on them.  I cut the blackout and the layer in the same color, so you can just barely see the patterns.  I just glued them together and adhered them to the shadow, which I cut in white.

I used a stamp by Hero Arts and hand cut my banner.  I added some white twine to the balloons and ran it behind the foam dots on the back of the banner.

I just added a strip of the patterned paper on the inside because I wanted to keep it simple.  Nothing fancy today - Just a simple bright card!

Celebrations - Week 5

It’s time for the cartridge of the month, one last time for May.  I have to apologize because apparently my project didn’t post last week.  I know Blogger had some issues, so apparently they affected my posting.  Oh well…on to this week’s card.

I used the border feature to cut these balloons to make a simple birthday card for a little boy in my class at church.

I used the blackout feature and cut them in black, then in white.  I cut the strings off the white ones, then layered the black, then white and then the top color.  As you can see in the next picture, my blade is apparently getting dull as it caught a few of the small pieces and caused some fraying.  To finish it off, I rounded the corners and added some white stitching.

As always, I am open to suggestions for next month’s cartridge exploration.  I have a couple of ideas, but would love to hear from you!

Celebrations - Week 3

Good Morning!  I hope your Tuesday is going well so far.  As I mentioned in my last post, my laptop power supply bit the dust this weekend and the poor, uncharged laptop contains a bunch of pictures I had edited for posting this week - including today's card using Celebrations.  So, I made a quick card last night so I'd at least have something to share with you guys. 

I don't have Tie the Knot cartridge, but I've seen several folks make cards using the invitation feature and do the criss-cross-y pocket type card. (Is that what you'd call it???)  Anyway, I had set that up on my Gypsy and decided to use that.  It's realy simple, but I love this pocket and will certainly use this again.  The cupcake is from Celebrations. 

Because this was last minute, I took these pictures at work this morning, so just ignore the lovely cubicle background!

 

I designed the pocket using my Gypsy.  It has the base layer (white) and the top layer (patterened).  It was really simple and I think it could be used for many things.  I didn't want to over-embellish because the paper pattern is so busy and bright.

The paper is from KI Memories.

I added a pop dot under the cupcake to make it stand up.

I also added white iradescent glitter to the top of the cupcake.  I'm pretending it's a chocolate fudge cupcake with cream cheese icing.  Doesn't that sound delectable?  I LOVE cream cheese icing!

Celebrations–Week 2

It’s Tuesday – Time for the cartridge of the month again.  This month, I’m exploring the Celebrations cartridge.  Today I made a really simple birthday card.  I used the party hat from Celebrations and the font is Pooh Font. 

I used paper from a Colorbok stack from Wal-Mart and added glitter to the little pom pom on the top of the party hat.

I cut the letters out twice and used pop dots to give them dimension.  I added details with a purple gel pen.

It's May!!

Hello Everyone!  I am slowly getting back into the swing of things from all my busy days.  Since it's May, it's time for a new cartridge of the month.  Last month, I chose Doodlecharms, but then when my big project came up, I didn't finish that cart, so I'll try to pick it up again in a few months.  I have TONS of birthday cards to make this month, so I decided to highlight Celebrations this month.  This is an older cart, but it has alot of great images on it.  My first project is super simple and easy, but I was on a big time crunch as I'm still getting my house cleaned and back in order and have alot of irons in the fire right now.  I used my favorite cut from this cartridge.  This card is for a boy in my Children's Church class, so I added his name to the bottom with stickers. 

I would normally add more "bling", but I feel like this cut is so intricate that it could look messy if you're not careful.  I went with basic bright colors since it is for a boy.  No pink here!  =(  I actually cut the letters out 4 times, then hand cut them to piece together as one word.

Seize the Cupcake

One of my co-workers has a birthday tomorrow and I have been wanting to use this cute cupcake paper for a while. Isn't the paper fabulous? The cupcake is from Celebrations cartridge.

I did a blue mat on the inside and then punched these tiny cupcakes (using my EK Success punch that I got on clearance for $2.99!!) to use for a border. I added the "sprinkles" using my Sakura Souffle 3D Gel Pens.

I stamped the outside of the envelope with a couple more stamps from the same set. I colored the cupcake with watercolor pencils and added sparkles to the heart using a Martha Stewart Glitter Pen.
