Happy October!

Can you believe it's already October?  Time is flying by this year!  I started making some Halloween goodie boxes and wanted to share one with you.  But first, check this out...

How much do you love that pink car?  Do you see the eyelashes on the headlights?  I love it!  My dad sent me this pic because he knew I'd love it.  I think it looks like a fun little Barbie car and I need one.  I think it would make me really claustrophobic, but it just looks so happy and fun!

Ok...on to the paper stuff...

I will start off by apologizing for these horrible pictures.  My poor, pitiful camera just didn't do well on this.  I re-adjusted the white balance to every setting I had and the picture still came out poorly, mostly because of the orange background, I'm sure.  I made this box using the Life's A Party.

This picture turned out much better.  I made a rosette out of orange paper, then punched the circles using different sized punches.

As you can see, I adhered it with foam dots to make it stand out.  I also inked the edges of the box using black ink.  I then added the mummy sticker just because he's so stinking cute!

Recipe:
Paper - K & Company
Sticker - Jolee's
Cuts - Coffin box from Life's A Party @ 5"
Rosette made from a 1" strip of paper, scored at 1/2" intervals
           Circles punched using 1.25", 1.5", 1.75"
           Scalloped circle punched using 2"

Thanks for stopping by today for a visit!

Blessings,
Cheryl

Superstar!

Today I want to share another card I made for a young man that helps with our children's ministry.  I think I'm almost done with these masculine cards for a while!  I had several moments while making this card that I wasn't sure whether it was going to be terrible or great.  I ended up being pleased with the outcome, mainly because it was so different from my other cards.  (And no flowers in sight....)

All the cuts on this card are from the Life's A Party cartridge.  This is one of those cartridges that I bought on a whim because I found it on Ebay really cheap.  When I ordered it, I was sure I would use it like crazy, which I haven't.  I just happened upon this cut and thought it looked interesting.

I stamped the sentiment on the front and then embossed it in white.  I bought this embossing powder at Michael's and I am not in love with it.  See all the little "dots"?  It doesn't seem to melt smoothly, no matter how long I heat it.  Thankfully, since it was for a teen boy, I didn't think he'd care or notice!  I used my white gel pen to trace the edges of the front.

Here's the inside of the card.  The striped piece covers the entire inside, then I added a black mat with white lining so I 'd have somewhere to write.

I cut the stars in 3 different sizes, then layered them using foam.

Card Recipe:
Card base - from Life's A Party, cut at 6"
Stars - from Life's A Party, cut at 2.75", 4", 4.5"
Black mat (inside) - 5.75" x 2"
White mat (inside) - 4" x 1.75"
Stamp - Studio G
Ink - Adirondack Ink in Snow Cap
Embossing Powder - Recollections in White

Don't forget to enter the drawing for some Action Wobbles and Twine HERE.  I will draw and announce the winners tomorrow.

Blessings,
Cheryl

Plain Jane

I was finally able to get some of my pictures edited and I have a card to share with you today!  Being the Children's Pastor at my church, I have a group of folks that I oversee in our ministry.  I always try to send a birthday card to each one of them.  In our puppet group, we have a few teenage boys.  Can I tell you how much I hate making cards for boys?  They are just much harder than girls!  I want to make them fun cards, but it's really hard for me.  One of our boys turned 16 this week, so I decided to try a simple approach for his card.

Totally plain Jane, huh?  I thought it would be fun to just make a funky, simple card.  I used some paper that almost looks neon as a throwback to some 80's colors.  It didn't photograph very well, but the colors are super bright.

If you look closely at the cake, the circles are actually orange.  They look sorta yellow in the pic.  I've had this cartridge forever and have actually tried to make this cake several times and it always turned out looking weird.  I like it this time in bright colors!

I put the cake on using an Action Wobble.  I was taking this picture before I walked out the door for church (to take the card to him) and was in a big hurry.  This is the best "action" shot I could get of the Wobbling motion!

My hubby really liked this card.  I wasn't in love, but like I said, it's for a boy so I had to forego the sparkles and flowers!

Card Recipe:
Card base - from Life's A Party, cut at 4.75" (I used fit to page on a 12x12 sheet)
Cake - from Life's A Party, cut at 4"
Action Wobble

Have a fabulous weekend!

Trick or Treat...Smell My Feet!

I promise I'm almost done with the cheesy Halloween phrases.  They just abound this time of year, don't they?  I hope you all got to watch The Great Pumpkin last night because it's a necessary part of the season.  =)  I have another treat bag to share to wrap up my week of Halloween fun....

I want Ice Cream!!!

Just wanted to do a quick post and share a birthday card I made for my friend (who also happens to be my husband’s cousin…so my cousin, sorta…).  I have been wanting to use this cute ice cream cut from Birthday Bash since I got it.  For the card base, I actually used the coffin card shape from Life’s A Party.  I used the hide feature on my gypsy to hide the wording and create the mat.

I put the ice cream dish on with dimensionals to make it pop and added a stamp to the bottom.

For the inside of the card, I cut the sentiment to go along with the stamp on front.

I know all of you are spread all over the world, and I’m sure some of you are enjoying wonderful temperatures where you are.  Me, I’m in Oklahoma, USA.  Oh boy…it’s hot here!  Maybe that’s why I have my mind on ice cream…

Have a blessed Day!
