New projects!

Hi guys!  It's been way too long since I've posted!  About 3 weeks ago, things went INSANE at work, my Etsy store and business picked up big time and I discovered 24 hours in a day wasn't enough to do it all!

We've had two of us doing the work of four and I've been working a lot of overtime.  The paychecks will be nice, but I'm done!  We have a new person starting in 3 weeks, so the countdown is on.  All this overtime would have been tolerable on its own....but for some reason, I got a gazillion orders and projects during this time as well.  Now, I'm not complaining about God blessing my business.  I am just tired!

Since I haven't had time to craft for myself and post, I thought I'd at least share some pics of what I've been doing....

My co-worker asked me to make this "faux" ticket for her to give her dad on his birthday.  She and her sisters got him tickets to the Lakers/Thunder game and this was how they told him.  What a cute idea!  I would have never thought of that I totally enjoyed it.  I laminated it so he could keep it.  She said he loved it!

I also did several Easter baskets.  I forgot to take pictures of a couple, but here are two of them.

This is an Easter basket for a very sweet, lovely young lady.

 She loves horses and wants to grow up to be a vet. 

Her mom chose the colors to match her room, so she could use the basket after Easter.

This is for her brother, Trey.  He loves super heroes and his favorite is Batman.

One last project...

I made several personalized bunnies for Easter.  This was for a co-worker to mail to her niece.

I have several other projects to share, but not today.

Harry Potter

I don't love Harry Potter.

(GASP!)

I really don't.  I have tons of friends who love the books, love the movies and just love everything Harry Potter.  I just don't get it.  My husband read the books, then saw the movies.  I went to the theater for one and ended up sleeping for more than half the movie.  I just couldn't get into it.

For those of you who love Harry, I thought I'd share what I worked on this week...

A lady I work with ordered this wall decal for her daugther's reading nook in their new home.  I hope she loves it!

I have made several wall decals and don't have any in my own home.  Do you?  Since I've had my Silhouette, I have all these ideas and never do them for myself.  I must change that!

I just thought I'd share what I've been working on.  Now, I'm off to work on bunnies and baskets for Easter....

Fun with Vinyl!

Since purchasing my Silhouette, I have fallen in love with cutting vinyl.  Now, I realize that the Cricut I had for years could cut vinyl also, but I was sorta on my own personal strike.  I always had issues with the Cricut - even when I got my Gypsy - because the things I wanted to make required better fonts or changing of the design somewhat.  This was just not an option with the Cricut.  So, I pouted.  And didn't cut vinyl.

Fast forward to the glorious day in February when I received my Cameo.  I had vinyl I'd bought before and never used and I became a cutting fool!  I'm still getting my feet wet with the techniques and haven't quite conquered layering, but I'm having fun!

My manager is graduating from nursing school next week and gave me my first "for real" vinyl order.  The pics aren't good because I wasn't feeling well (stinking winter cold) and I didn't take time to set up a background and all that jazz.  But....I thought I'd share anyway.

I got the cups from www.saveacup.com and here's the stock photo:

And here's what she asked me to do to make them snazzy:

I put some paper inside because it was hard to see the decal.

I also took a picture of the decal before applying since it's a pain in the hiney to take a picture of a curved surface!

I found this heart shaped stethoscope by searching on Google.  I imported it into my Silhouette and traced it.

And here they are all lined up!  I messed up a few before really getting them right, but once I got a system going, they were pretty quick and simple to do.

Honey, Have you seen the remote?

Since my bout with meningitis in January, my memory has been less than stellar.  I'm told the after effects of the virus are similar to those of a traumatic brain injury.  While I am getting better with time - and believe that God healed me - I am not fully back to normal yet.  One of the worst things I do with this crazy memory of mine is carry stuff into other rooms with me, put it down, then forget about it until I need it again.  I know some people do this without a "brain injury", but I'm telling ya, I do it ALOT!

We look for our remotes regularly.

Like almost daily.

Because I've carried them to another room absentmindedly.

The strangest place we've found one is on the shelf where we keep our towels in the back bathroom.  I was folding towels one day on my couch, watching TV.  I picked up the towels to put away and apparently had the remote in my hand.  I put it on the shelf under the towels.  Fortunately, since I've done this so much lately, we now know to retrace my steps and we found it in a mere 25 minutes.

I'd seen this on Pinterest a while back and had it on my to do list.  I grabbed some vinyl scraps and did this:

I just got a TV for my craft room, thus prompting me to move this project to the top of my list.  I cannot imagine how much I could mix up 3 remotes instead of 2!

Of course, I used pink vinyl to match the pink theme of my craft room.  I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut it.  I tried measuring the remotes, but as you can see by how large the letters are, I didn't plan too well.  I decided even though they're HUGE, I am not re-cutting them.  

The font I used was Caprica Script.  You can download it HERE.

I used painter's tape as my transfer tape to put them on.  It took a whopping 5 minutes and this project was done!

If you label your remotes using vinyl or stickers or whatever, I'd love to see a pic!
