Fun Flower Card!

Hello friends!  Today I want to share a simple card I made a while back.  It turned out way better than I expected, so that's always nice!

Stamping Solutions–Week 5

We’re coming to the end of the month, thus I’ll be sharing my last project using Stamping Solutions.  For this week’s project, I used the the butterfly cut, on blackout.

I cut the butterflies at 1 1/4”.  I cut them in a bunch of colors and then settled on a rainbow-ish theme.

I folded each butterfly at the wings to make them stand out.

I used a plain white background for the card because I wanted something super simple. 

I put a tiny line of glue just in the center of each butterfly so only the middle portion was attached to the card.

On the first card, I just attached each butterfly to the card.  For this one, I glued a butterfly down flat in each color and then added another one on top.  I am not sure which one I like better…

To finish them off, I added a stamped sentiment to each.  I do apologize for the bad pics; I took them late at night and didn’t have much light around.

Stamping Solutions - Week 4

Good Morning Everyone!  (or at least everyone in the central time zone of the US... for some of you, it's Goodnight!)  I'm back with another project from this month's cartridge, Stamping Solutions.  I have been trying to challenge myself with this cartridge to use the cuts in a different way, so that's what I did this time.

For the card base, I cut the scallop rectangle using the blackout feature.  I then cut a card fit the center of it and rounded the corners before adhering.  All paper are by Colorbok.

For the flowers, I cut scalloped circles, also using the blackout feature.  I cut 3 sets of circles in different sizes, cutting each one .25" smaller than the one before so they would "nest" inside each other.  I have pictures showing how I made the flowers 3D, however, I left them at home and I'm at work now!  Oops!  I will try to get the instructions up this week, in case you're interested.  

I cut some leaves (surprise....using the blackout feature!) and added brads to the center of the flowers.  I made two of these cards and on my other one, I used bling in the center instead of brads.  Not sure which I like better....

To finish it off, I added the stamped sentiment.  I am not loving the pink ink, but it's done now, so what can ya do?  Be sure to check back later in the week for the instructions on how to make the flowers.

Stamping Solutions - Week 3

Today is week 3 of my exploration of Stamping Solutions.  As most of you know, I am the children's pastor at my church.  I try to send cards to all the children in my class for their birthdays, etc.  I make each card with the individual in mind, instead of just making a bunch of the same card.  This is for a little girl in my class whose birthday is this month.

All cuts on this card came from Stamping Solutions.  I used the shadow feature of the scalloped circle for the base.  I welded two of them together with my Gypsy then cut the red layer and the patterned circle for the center.  All the paper is from a stack by Martha Stewart.  Funny thing about the paper - When I had my craft booth a few weeks ago, a lady asked for some specific items with red as the main color.  I made them for her as a special order using the red and the plaid paper (I only had a limited supply of paper with me that day).  She did end up buying the items but was very concerned because this paper wasn't "red enough"????  It looks pretty red to me...  =)

I cut the shadow of the present twice and added it with foam dots for dimension.  I also added some stitching with my white gel pen.  I don't love the stitching around the dots on the present, but I was too lazy to cut it again and redo that part!!!

It's hard to tell from the pic, but I added iridescent glitter glue to the yellow dots on the present so they're all sparkly.  I added the twine on top and voila!

Stamping Solutions - Week 2

It's Tuesday - Time for the cartridge of the month exploration.  This month, I'm pulling out an old one, Stamping Solutions.  I loved this cart when I first bought it, but have really forgotten about it with all the newer ones.  I'm going to tell you right from the beginning - I am not in love with this card!  I am going ahead and posting it because I figure I'll show you my good projects along with my bad ones....ha ha!  That way you know the real me.  =)

Every cut on the card is from Stamping Solutions.  The base is the shadow for the scalloped oval cut and I welded two together on my Gypsy.

Originally, I had cut "thinking of you" (word art on this cart) to put in the center of the card, however, it just looked...off.  So I took it off.  And put it back on.  And took it off again.  You get the picture!  I finally decided it looked better without it, but now it looks odd in the center of the card.  Now you see why I'm not too pleased with it!  I added the stamp "friends" on the lower right and then moved my stamp and messed up the "s" on the end of the word.  Things just went downhill the night I made this card.  =)  The card base was cut at 3.75".

One thing I do like - the flowers.  I cut 5 of each flower and just layered and scrunched them.  The flowers were cut at 1.50", 1", .75" and .50".  I cut all the leaves the same size at 1.25".   



I forgot to hide the circle in the center of each flower (with my Gypsy) before cutting, so I had to cover those up with pearls. 

This poor little sad card!  I really thought it had potential but it just didn't make it.  Oh well!  I'll try again tomorrow.  Until then, have a fabulous evening!

Gratitude - Stamping Solutions Week 1

Since it's now August, it's time for another cartridge to explore.  This month, I'm going to be exploring the Stamping solutions cartridge.  I realize it's an older cartridge, but I really like this cart.  I got it really cheap on Ebay and have used it quite a bit.  As I've gotten new carts, though, I find I forget about my older ones.  I don't want them to feel neglected, so I gotta use them.  =)

As I said a few days ago, it seems like all I've been making lately are thank you cards.  So, Surprise!  Guess what I have for you today!  I made this for my sister in law for all her help with my craft booth a few weeks ago.

 

I made the base by welding two of the scalloped squares from this cart together.  I cut the mat just a bit smaller to show a little of the edge.

I added a button to the corner and tied some twine around it.  I put it on with a pop up glue dot.  (Is that what you call the thick ones???)

I cut a few extra layers of the shadows of the words and tree so they would have more dimension.  I cut a scrap of yellow paper and put it in the tree so the cute little birdie would stand out. 

I'll have more from this cartridge next week.  Until then, If you've made anything using this cartridge, I'd love to see it!

“I’m so Lucky” Blog Hop!!

With the theme being “I’m so Lucky”, we were asked to create two projects that represent blessings and things in our life that we are lucky to have.  Thanks so much to Jennifer for coordinating and planning this hop and for giving me the privilege of being a part of it!

The first project I made is a card.  I used Lacy Labels for the base and welded it with my Gypsy.  The doll is made from Paisley and I made the sentiment on my computer.  I made this card for a good friend of mine.  I am so very blessed to have some of the best friends in the world.  I am grateful for each and every one of them. 

I was trying to think of what I’d like to make for my second project and was really trying to think of something to represent the blessings I have.  I decided on a cross shaped bookmark made from Indie Art.  The sentiment is from Stamping Solutions.  The GREATEST blessing that’s ever happened to me has been my relationship with God.  He blessed me with a husband, a family and a church that I love so very much.  I can’t begin to put into words how grateful I am for the blessings He’s given me.  I definitely am “so lucky” and completely blessed.  The bookmark is quite simple but the one word says it all for me. 

It’s hard to tell in the picture, but the black paper is textured and distressed.  The pink has a soft, glittery paisley pattern on it.

Sunny Flowers

Paper makes me happy. Any color...any pattern...any style! I was purging my photo files on my computer last night and came across this card I made a long, long time ago. I had saw a sketch on a blog somewhere (one of the hundreds I visit, I'm sure) and thought it was great. I really love this card because it's just so happy and cheery and bright. Hope you enjoy it too! I used Serenade for the flowers and Stamping Solutions for the wording.

A Very Merry Un-Birthday...to you

Every year our ladies group at church has a tea party. This year the theme was "The Mad Hatter's Tea Party" inspired by the new Alice in Wonderland movie. (Isn't Johnny Depp wonderful???) Anyway, the party happened to fall a couple of days before my mom's birthday and since she's the leader of our group a few of the ladies wanted to surprise her with - in true Alice fashion - A Very Merry Un-Birthday Card. They asked me to make one about an hour before the party started! We wanted it big and silly and whimsical, so I made it from two sheets of 12x12 cardstock, put together with glitter brads. I used Stamping Solutions for the cake and several others for the letters.

Present Birthday Card

I made this card for my sister-in-law's birthday a few weeks ago. I just orderd the Stamping Solutions cartridge and I LOVE it! This cartridge has some really cute whimsical cuts on it that I think I'll use frequently.
